New live videos at Southern Souls – new songs!
Wednesday, April 28th, 2010
Just wanted to send the word out that we’ve completed a little live video special with our pal Mitch Fillion who single-handedly runs the unbelievable website Southern Souls. We did things a little differently on all fronts – a traditional music video is usually lip-synced, but we played live. And most of Mitch’s videos are acoustic in nature, with the band in different or unusual locations. We got the unusual location part down – we filmed in a warehouse in Scarborough, Ontario that houses Coll Audio, one of Canada’s largest provider of backline equipment to touring acts. We nixed the acoustic aspect, though, and went full electric, running everything to multitrack. Doug Smith was our location engineer, Brian Wirth mixed the audio after the fact, and Mitch himself filmed the whole thing with a single HD camera. We’re really pleased with the results and hope you are too. We even threw two newer songs into the mix, and they are first up. Here they be:
Part 1: The Great Northwest/Smoothwater
HURON LIVE AT COLL AUDIO PART 1 from Mitch Fillion on Vimeo.
Part 2: Bloodfire/The Big Dig
HURON LIVE AT COLL AUDIO (PART 2) from Mitch Fillion on Vimeo.
Part 3: War Between
HURON LIVE AT COLL AUDIO (PART 3) from Mitch Fillion on Vimeo.

Southern Ontario, here we come!
Wednesday, March 31st, 2010
Just about to leave for a mini-tour – if you’re in Peterborough, Ottawa, Montreal or Kingston, we’ll see you this week! Windsor, Brantford and Toronto – next week!
Also wanted to toss out the ticket link for our Lee’s Palace show with the Spades – http://www.ticketmaster.ca/event/10004450034A89BC. It’s gonna be a barnburner so check it out if you would.
Also if you haven’t signed up for the mailing list yet you should get on that, you can do so on the front page of our site here and Latent will send you a couple mp3’s from our record as a thank-you. We promise not to spam you and you’ll only get really cool occasional updates telling you when we’re coming to your town or when we’ve got new music coming out.
We’re off! See you on the road!

Horseshoe cancellation
Monday, March 22nd, 2010
Folks, we’re so sorry, but we’re not gonna be able to play Tuesday night at the Horseshoe. For those of you who were out Saturday night at Lee’s Palace, you heard how Cam was struggling with his voice…there’s just no way he’s gonna have it back by Tuesday, and there’s no way we’d wanna play without him being able to sing for you. We’re super bummed because our record is finally out on Tuesday and it was gonna be a bit of an unofficial CD release, but that’ll just have to wait until next time…
…which incidentally, is Saturday April 10 at Lee’s Palace, with our pals The Spades! They’re releasing their new disc on Tuesday as well so it’s only fitting that we join them on that bill. Wicked band and good buds of ours. We really hope to see you then, Torontonians! In the meantime, we’ll be back in Peterborough, Ottawa, Montreal, Kingston, Windsor and Brantford over the next few weeks.
See you out on the road…

The LP’s are here! Also new Feb/March dates – Hammer, Brantford, Montreal, Peterborough, Ottawa, Toronto
Wednesday, February 10th, 2010
So our LP’s arrive last week, and I must say they’re looking sharp…we went a little fancy and got the 180 gram records, and put in a little extra photo collage that’s not in the CD version. If you’re a vinyl junkie like me you’ll wanna pick one up. I’ll admit I’ve been sitting around the house listening to it here and there because it sounds so good. Please excuse the crude nature of this Blackberry photograph:

right arm, eh
Also wanted to keep you informed of some new dates we’ve added…in short order you’ll be able to see all of our upcoming dates on the site here, but in the meantime lemme lay them out for you:
Friday February 26 at This Ain’t Hollywood, Hamilton (CFMU Fundraiser)
Saturday February 27 at Divan Orange, Montreal (w Hollerado)
Friday March 12 at Silver Dollar, Toronto (CMW)
Saturday March 13 at Two Doors Down, Brantford (w Ascot Royals)
Thursday March 18 at Montreal House, Peterborough (w Cuff the Duke)
Friday March 19 at Maverick’s, Ottawa (w Cuff the Duke)
Saturday March 20 at Lee’s Palace, Toronto (w Cuff the Duke)
…and of course I should mention that we’re still going to be at the Dakota in Toronto every Wednesday until the end of February. It’s been an awesome residency, we’ve had so much fun.
Now, shortly after all of that comes the moment we’ve all been waiting for – our record will be coming out officially on March 23, thanks to our hombres at Latent, in partnership with the fine people at Fontana North Distribution. We’ll waste no time hitting the road again to convey the rock unto the people of Canada – watch this space for the announcement of a whole slew of Spring dates in the next couple weeks. We’re coming for you, Ontario. All of you.
I’d better go start packing my gear for Dakota tonight…I will leave you with a couple videos from our residency there, shot by Dirk Fimbob (his real name, I assure you).
Hope this works…here we are doing King & Country
Also Corktown
And for good measure, here we are during Ian’s set doing the Grand Funk Railroad tune Sin’s A Good Man’s Brother
Thanks for reading..

Happy New Year! New Dakota dates and other exciting details…
Tuesday, January 5th, 2010
Hope everybody had a relaxing holiday season…we took some time in the Huron camp to get away from seeing each others’ faces for a couple weeks. I must say it’s been a long time since I went three weeks without strapping an electric guitar to my body (though I did take some time to sit at the steel, and picked up my acoustic guitar for a change), so when we reconvened this week to rehearse it was a lot of fun. We even bashed out a fun cover to add to the Dakota sets this time around.
Speaking of which, we’re back at the Dakota Tavern on Wednesdays in January and February, playing our own set and also backing our pal Sir Ian. You probably already know that Ian produced our record (which you should be currently hearing from the widget at right -> and passing along to every living soul you know), but that’s really a drop in the bucket compared to all the other cool shit he’s done. His record Happy Endings is awesome and these Dakota nights have been a real treat. The four of us in Huron end up on stage for almost three hours each night, the rock just doesn’t stop. We’re really happy that the turnouts were so good in November and we’re looking forward to eight more weeks of awesome.
As for other exciting details…there are none fit for print at this time. Soon, I promise.

Hamilton was a blast; last Dakota of the year this week; other Ontario dates
Monday, November 23rd, 2009
We were so busy leading up to our big show in Hamilton on Friday that I didn’t even have time to blog about it, but thought I’d mention that we had an outstanding night at This Ain’t Hollywood with Cowlick and Ian. It was really great to see so many friends and strangers alike.
This Wednesday is the last night of our residency at the Dakota in Toronto until next year. The attendance and enthusiasm has been building greatly over the past few weeks and we’re really pleased with how the residency is going. Get down to the Dakota this week for your last chance to catch the Huron/Ian Blurton’s Happy Endings show in Toronto this year! There are a handful of other dates too – Peterborough, Montreal, Kingston and Ottawa – if you’re not a Torontonian and want to see the show. Rest of Canada – you all stay tuned.
In other news, we’re expecting the test pressings of our LP shortly…totally stoked about that.
See you out on the road…

Dakota tonight!
Wednesday, November 18th, 2009
Tonight we play night 3 of our Wednesday residency at the Dakota Tavern in Toronto. Very excited because our record has been pressed and now available at shows. For those of you who aren’t near Ontario, in a few days you’ll be able to buy the record right here on the site. The incredible artwork was done by a team in Halifax called Yorodeo and is also featured as the background to our new site (you’re looking at it).
Tonight we start at 10:30 and play for an hour; then around midnight we’ll do two sets backing our friend Ian Blurton. Ian produced our record and is releasing his own solo record, Happy Endings. It’s gonna be loud, and we look forward to seeing you there.
