Q & A with FYI Music News

Sunday, October 5th, 2014

Recently did this Q and A with a friend of mine, Cam. Take a look…also note a clarification, I meant that I have been listening to Tom Paxton's first lp ("Ramblin Boy") AND "How Come the Sun". Both are worth checking out.

Tonight in Hamilton / Tomorrow, early show @ The Dakota in Toronto!

Wednesday, June 25th, 2014

Hey gang,

Were happy to be on our way to play at This Ain't Hollywood in Hamilton tonight. Doors are at 9 and only $6 to get in. We have some pals opening the show, Ben Somer and Dan Edmonds(of Harlan Pepper).

Tomorrow, we'll be at The Dakota Tavern in Toronto to play an early show. We have very special guests, Josiah Johnson(of Sub Pop's The Head and the Heart) & Carleigh Aikins(who sings on the new lp, 'Early Riser'). It's also special for two reasons, it's their 1st Toronto show as a duo and it's our last 'Situation' full band show til the fall. Hope to see you there! Doors are at 7pm and only $5 to get yourself in!

Pick up a copy on Thursday or if you can't make it to the Toronto release, order Early Riser here: http://latentrecordings.com/jerryleger/music/

‘Early Riser’ now officially Available!

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2014

Hey gang!

Very excited to say that 'Early Riser' is now available to order or download on the music page. 'Early Riser' was produced, recorded and mixed by Michael Timmins, features my regular band The Situation (James McKie, Dan Mock, Kyle Sullivan) as well as Jeff Heisholt on organ (Trews, Peter Elkas, Skydiggers, Burt Neilson Band), Aaron Comeau on piano (Sam Cash, Dear Sister), Darcy Hepner (Aretha Franklin, B.B. King, Tony Bennett) and a trio of female background singers in Carleigh Aikins (Bahamas), Tamara Lindeman (The Weather Station, Bruce Peninsula), Ivy Mairi (Bruce Peninsula). The wonderful album cover was designed by fellow songwriter, Daniel Romano.

It was fantastic working with Mike and I think we made a great little record.

NOW Magazine gave it NNNN and called it "the best album yet", while Exclaim! said:

"Credit should go to producer Michael Timmins (Cowboy Junkies), whose ear for rich melody and honest vocals is legendary in Canada's roots music circles (and beyond), for finding just the right sonic landscape for Leger's songs. After all, this is the man who, back in 1992, helped introduce a pretty obscure Texas singer-songwriter named Townes Van Zandt to Canadian audiences. Timmins knows singer-songwriters, is what I'm saying. In Leger, he's found one of Canada's best."

Order 'EARLY RISER' today!
